Happiness is an inside job.
I love this quote because its serves as a reminder that we create our own happiness. Outside factors are never going to make you happy. Being grateful for a sunny day or being appreciative of all the loved ones you have in your life, those are two things that you can recognize today that will in fact make you happy.
I always find it is easier to be happy in the summer when the weather is warm and the days are long. So take this time to really bolster your inner happiness. Then when winter rolls around (which it always does) you will have fortified your ability to create happiness and will be better prepared to make it through the colder and darker months.
A simple practice of waking up everyday and saying three things you are grateful/thankful for is a wonderful way to strengthen your internal happiness.
Today I am thankful for:
- Being able to take longs walks with my puppy dog Blair.
- Good friends.
- A comfortable condo that shelters me year round.
Every day try and come up with three new things, though it is totally fine to repeat (I personally am thankful for my family every single day). After a week or two reflect on all of the wonderful things you have mentioned every day. Even when it feels like life isn’t going exactly as planned there are still so many wonderful things in all of our lives. Make a conscious effort today to embrace positivity and watch as happiness follows!
