The message for today is: say yes to adventure! However, the message could have also been about being flexible, as my home wifi was down all day and the fact that this post even happened is a mixture of miracles and iphone magic. So actually, a message of gratitude also comes to mind, thank goodness for technology how did we ever survive without it? Anyway, I digress and will get back to the main message of the day!
This past Saturday I pulled out a new backpack to fill with supplies for an afternoon in the park (towel, water bottles, kindle, dog treats… you know the drill). The minute Puppy Dog Blair saw the new pack she immediately jumped in and gave me the “Whatever you are doing I am in it with you” face pictured above. She is loyal like that!
It didn’t matter where we were headed, or that she had never seen this particular bag before, she simply spotted an opportunity for adventure, and assumed (correctly) she would have fun. She made it immediately known she was game, and geared up for the ride. For, while we walk through the park frequently, this was our first time setting up a proper day camp and neither of us was quite certain how this particular adventure would turn out. However, Blair knows from experience whenever we go somewhere she tends to have a good time, so even if the circumstances seemed slightly different from her daily norm she was willing go along.
This should serve as a reminder to us all. Sometimes we get so bogged down by day to day responsibilities we don’t even recognize when novel opportunities arise (both big and small). We miss out on a lot of fun (and learning) when going through life in autopilot and only sticking to our known and steady path. Sometimes you just have to jump into the bag (not literally haha) and see where life carries you, even if the destination may not be clear from the get go. Let Blair serve as a reminder to be open to any opportunities that may arise. As for our day at the park, it was perfect, sometimes all you really need is to step outside and get some fresh air. We found a great spot, the weather was warm but not to hot, Blair made a few new dog friends, and I got to read a several chapters in my book…success!
Today, seize adventure, no matter how monumental or seemingly insignificant, and set out with confidence knowing your home will be there waiting for you when you return!
