Its time to start planning your 4th of July festivities!
The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. The barbeques and long days on the lake are the most perfect way to embrace summer. I also love all of the decorations. We truly do have a stunning flag!! However, especially amongst all the pomp and circumstance it is important that we never forget what we are truly celebrating.
This year in particular I am celebrating the 4th of July in honor of the original 4th of July all the way back in 1776. The adoption of the Declaration of Independence was a truly awesome time in American history.
I will not even try to hide my disappointment with the direction this country seems to currently be headed. I think we all need to take a look back at our history and remember the true values this country was founded upon. Then we need adapt those values to modern times (because, come on, people let’s be reasonable here).
When you throw your bbq’s and parties in the coming weeks remember the men and women who helped found our nation. Hat’s off to you especially Besty Ross, you created a truly beautiful flag that will be at the forefront of all of my Fourth of July decorating this year!
So this fourth of July, have fun at the bbq’s, (make sure to decorate in all your favorite Americana flare) and enjoy your day off, but also remember all of the hard work that got us here and let’s all try to make our forefathers and foremothers proud!
