I was watching Bravo (the only channel I truly can’t live without) the other night. During a commercial break I glanced down at my coffee table and noticed how by some happy accident all of the items on that one small surface revealed so much about me. My love for candles is very much apparent. My childhood love for Martha Stewart is still going strong. The citrine crystal and card deck reveal my love for new age spirituality. Yet, I am also an avid reader of Elle, and love fashion. The glass votive holder from Orrefors reinforces my love for all things Swedish. I could go on but will spare you.
The point being, earlier in the day I had been annoyed by the clutter on my table, and vowed to clean it up before bed that night. However, in that Bravo fueled moment of clarity, I had a realization that our homes should always be a reflection of who we are, and for interesting multidimensional people like myself that might include some clutter 🙂
Still caught up in the moment, I reflected just a little bit more (it was a really long commercial break) and decided, our homes should not only be a reflection of who we are in this moment, but also to set the stage for who we want to be. Think of it like a living vision board. For most of us, our home is the one small place we can really call our own. Let’s utilize that space to its fullest potential. We should all fill our homes with items that not only delight, but also inspire. Whatever our dreams and aspirations might be, we need to create a space in our home where we can work towards that goal (this space will look and feel different for everyone). Whether we want to start a course of study, master a hobby, or even launch a new business, we can use our homes as a starting ground to propel forward in our goals.
Utilize your home to realize your dreams.
