February and March are tricky months. The weather generally starts to warm up from the artic chill or January, with some cold days still thrown in there to keep you are your toes. The days are also lighter and longer which for me is the best news ever! I just love walking to the gym after work and still getting to catch some sunlight! However, when you live in the Midwest even if the temperatures are more mild these days and the days offer more sun, for the most part things won’t start to green up outside for a few more weeks.
Since I am already craving all things green, I have decided to take matters into my own hands and move nature indoors. I am thinking this year I will start my balcony garden early and let the plants get a head start on their growth journey inside in the comfort of my home. I figure providing consistent temperatures and water supply is the least I can do. Also, I should note that calling the plants on my balcony a “garden” is a generous term for one planter of mint and one planter of assorted succulents. I like to keep things very manageable!
Once the temps consistently warm up outside in say June/July (just being realistic) the plants can graduate to their summer home outside. Seems like the perfect plan!
Is anyone else craving Spring flowers and new growth right about now?
