Whenever I find myself in a creative rut, I know it is time to hit the town in search of inspiration. Yesterday I touched upon finding inspiration in tried and true locations here. Today I want to discuss the importance of exploration and finding new places when in search of inspiration.I am almost ashamed to admit that I just learned about Dropshot Coffee over the weekend, even though it has been open for a little over a year. I was intrigued by the spot after hearing that the coffee shop/cafe boasts a great food and beverage menu and even more impressive decor. Dropshot is located in the northwest corner of my neighborhood, an area that I rarely meander through. So, even though I was checking out a new spot less than a mile from my home it still felt like an adventure!

Let’s start with the decor, the cafe is located within the Fieldhouse Jones hotel so be prepared for an old school sporty motif. What I love most about this space is that there is a definite theme delivered in a very cool manner. For example I love how they incorporated bleachers (pictured above) into the space in a totally practical way for guests to use. I also love the touches of burnished bronze which add sophistication and polish to the space.
While I will most likely not be designing any fieldhouse or sports inspired rooms in my near future. I loved seeing the creativity and unique design elements I encountered in this new to me space. Looking at the original work of others, gets my own creative juices flowing which is exactly what I needed!
