How does one survive the polar vortex??
Step 1: Stay inside
Step 2: Fika!
For those who are new around here, Fika is the Swedish word for taking a coffee break. More specifically taking a coffee break while enjoying a sweet treat. Most Swedes take Fika (it is a verb and a noun) midmorning and again mid afternoon. During this cold snap my morning Fika involves coffee and my afternoon Fika is a matcha latte with honey from my parents’ bees. Yup, that’s right, I use some pretty exclusive honey to sweeten my afternoon pick me up!
Not pictured two mini vegan lemon poppy seed muffins… I am a bit addicted to them at the moment and will be sad when they are all gone! They were procured as a special “Polar Vortex Treat.” Why do I need a polar vortex treat? Because I am a Taurus and we love to create daily indulgences, I didn’t make this, it’s in my birth chart!
Being a Taurus is also why I like to enjoy my Fika with a Dala horse and a Swedish Poster nearby. I’m enjoying my theme party for one! Is it possible that I have been cooped up inside for too long… probably. Have I run out of ways to entertain myself… most definitely not!
Happy Friday everyone, and hopefully by the time you read this, the polar vortex will be over! However, even after the weather warms up, I have no intention of giving up my Fika!
