If some weekend reading is on your horizon let me suggest my new favorite guilty pleasure summer read: Into the Water By Paula Hawkins. I’ll be honest I was hesitant to read this book because I wasn’t a huge fan of Hawkins’s first book The Girl on The Train (I know the whole world loved it, but I just wasn’t a big fan). Flash forward to this summer and I keep hearing everyone rave about In The Water and I figured what the heck I should give it a shot.
The novel is a thriller with some psychic elements thrown in. There is a river, with a cliff, a mysterious town lore… what more could you need? This book is totally fun, and the type of novel that makes English teachers shake their head. I finished the whole thing in three days and thoroughly enjoyed the read. Not every book is destined to be a great classic that sustains the test of time. Some are just meant to be enjoyed in the here and now. This summer, enjoy this novel, it is fun and entertaining and sometimes that is all you need for a great read!
