“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” Is a quote attributed to Mahatma Gandhi and its message is still prevalent today.
For many spiritual and empathetic people, these are trying times. It seems like there is so much going wrong, and it is too overwhelming to even know where to begin to make things right. Let this quote serve as a reminder that change is always in your grasp, and progress can be made in even the smallest of increments. Rather than allowing yourself to feel overpowered, think of the smallest most accessible steps you can take today to start to shift the global energy (big picture people!) in a more positive direction.
My suggestion is to partake in three acts of kindness per day.
Something you can easily squeeze in to your daily life. These acts can be simple, and can even start at home. Show compassion to your family, your roommates or significant other and also yourself. If you are feeling brave (which you are!), give a stranger a compliment or smile. Offer encouragement even when you expect nothing in return. Just do your small part to help make someone’s day just a little bit better. Positivity is contagious, and though at times it may seem difficult to remain upbeat, think not only of yourself, but also of how your good energy can help inspire others. Together we can, and we will, shift the tide.
