Fall is the time of year where my body wants to go into hibernation and eat all of the food, and I find myself trying to convince my body that it can fully survive the winter eating only some of the food.
Nighttime food cravings are the hardest, and I recently made a decision to curb all eating/snacking at 8 pm. Research shows that late night eating not only increases weight but also spikes your blood sugar, two things I would like to avoid if possible. So what is a girl to do when she is watching her favorite Bravo (the only channel I watch) program and a food craving hits? For that I turn to tea.
Not only does tea satisfy my consumption craving, a nice warm beverage also helps my body relax and get in the right mindset that we are winding down for the day and bed time is near. Finding delicious caffeine free (aka night friendly) tea has been a little bit of a struggle. Since Matcha and Earl Grey (both have caffeine) are my normal tea go tos, I had to do a bit of taste testing to find a caffeine free nighttime tea that tastes delicious. My new favorite is this Elderflower tea pictured above. I found this tea at Whole Foods and could not be happier with my discovery. I LOVE elderflower and to find it in tea form was a dream come true! The taste is delicious and elderflower has immunity boosting benefits, which is great for this upcoming cold/flu season.
A cup a day keeps the pounds and doctor away (at least here’s to hoping!)
