I used to be one of those girls who went to the nail salon every week to get her nails done. However, over the years I have become a much bigger fan of the at home mani. I love not having to call ahead to make an appointment, and on busy days it is so nice not being tied down to getting my nails done during regular business hours. I almost always paint my nails at 10 pm while watching reality tv and wouldn’t have it any other way. I also feel so much better about the whole manicure experience knowing my tools are clean and the products are high quality. If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself!
I always start my manicures with a Rejuvacote base. Not only does the winter dry out my skin it also wreaks havoc on my nails, and this is the one product I have found that helps heal and then prevent my nails from cracking and splitting, and thus my nail polish from chipping. Next I apply two coats of some of my favorite Zoya colors like those pictured above. I personally love Zoya because it is 5 free (doesn’t have bad chemicals) and the bottles have one of the best brushes for application. I also love their color selections, this spring I am really feeling drawn to cool tones, and not so classic colors. I think after the long winter I just want to shake things up a bit! I then finish the whole thing off with my go to topcoat since college, Seche Vite, I love how quickly your nails dry and how glossy it makes your color. With a little practice and patience your nails will look just as glistening and glamorous as they do fresh out of the salon. Salon quality nails, from the comfort of your home, perfection!
