This past weekend the Renegade Craft Fair held their holiday market editions in Chicago and Brooklyn. I attended the Chicago show at the Bridgeport Art Center and once again, the show did not disappoint. I was able to pick up a couple more Christmas gifts (and let’s be honest gifts for myself) from local creatives and discovered some new to me artisans in the process.
I always enjoy buying gifts directly from artists at fairs. For starters you get a chance to actually meet the person behind the work. It also feels good to support an actual human instead of a large corporation. The best part is that you can find innovative and exciting brands.
For everyone in the Chicagoland area who still has some holiday shopping to complete, you are in luck as there are two different shows this weekend. Check out the One of a Kind Show (Thursday-Sunday) at the Merchandise Mart. This show is so huge, definitely go when you have plenty of time to peruse without feeling rushed. Or for a smaller and more curated experience, on Sunday stop by Holidose at 401 North Morgan Street from 10-5. Support local and independent creatives and find some truly cool and unique gifts in the process!
