February in the Midwest is not kind to your skin. The cold and dry can leave our skin looking tired and weathered. Not to mention pale, oh so pale. I am trying to use less self tanner this winter, it just seems like chemicals that change the color of your skin can’t be good for you, and so I am trying to embrace the lack of color on my face.
That being said even though I am trying to embrace the pale, I would still like to see a little bit of life in my February façade. I first started hearing rumblings about the new L’Oreal True Match Lumi Glotion a couple of weeks ago, and after some beauty bloggers I truly respect started wearing this product as part of their daily routine I decided I needed to try the products for myself. The product comes in four shades and you can choose between lighter to darker shades depending upon your skin color and your desired results.
Unlike other highlighters this product goes on under your foundation/tinted moisturizer, a concept I was a little skeptical of at first but now am a total convert. I tested out the fair color first and was amazed how immediately I just looked healthier. There was a definitely a glow, but it seemed natural and lit from within. My face was still pale, but instead of looking sickly it looked well rested and dare I say energized? I completed my makeup routine as usual, and found that shockingly at the end of the day my face was still glowing. Excited by the positive results, I decided to try the Medium shade, which added just the slightest bit of color to my face and made me look like a person who regularly sleeps well (a phenomena I am completely unfamiliar with). Once again the product stayed on my face all day. I normally find by the end of day my face makeup has almost always disappeared so this in itself is a very pleasant change.
Needless to say I am completely in love with both products and they have officially been worked into my daily routine, I use them after primer before tinted moisturizer. I use the medium shade for days when I wake up looking particularly tired and the light shade for days when I just crave that “natural glow.” My goal is to one day truly glow from within (I’ve recently upped my fish oil intake with hopes this might help) but until then, I will take all the help I can get. After all, my favorite motivational quote is “fake it ‘til you make it” and that is exactly what I intend to do!
This is not an ad, I just figured it is a Monday in February, we could all use a little good news!
