Yesterday I was feeling a bit out of sorts and decided I needed to take a walk. It was a nice sunny day and I remembered reading recently that several nature preserves right outside of Chicago had re-opened recently.
So I did a little research and told Blair we were heading on an adventure. It was absolutely perfect, like at one point I felt like I was living in a Disney movie. There were hundreds of flowering trees and the ground cover was full of purple, white and yellow wild flowers. I wish I had a better camera that could have captured the natural beauty.
I social distanced and wore my face mask the whole time but nothing could take away from the perfection of the moment. The temperature was just right, and the sun felt nice but not oppressive. It truly was exactly what I needed. If there is one thing I am thankful for in times of social distancing it is the dramatic decrease in car traffic these days. We drove during what would normally have been the evening commute, and were able to fly out and then back into town with no issues.
For everyone who just needs a break right now, I highly recommend spending some time in the trees, and don’t be afraid to get in your car and drive a little either. This week, let’s all make it a goal to spend less time watching Netflix and a little more time in nature.
