Blair the puppy dog wants you to go out and have some fun today!
When Blair came into my life she immediately taught me many lessons. As a puppy she taught me lessons in patience and faith. Patience to deal with all the antics that puppies throw your way and faith that despite what seemed like a constant desire to put herself in harms way, she would make it out alive (she did and with only one emergency vet visit along the way I will consider that a win). Blair has also taught me to live in the moment; she literally shakes everything off immediately after it happens. Something scary happens to her, she shakes her body, and boom she is back to 100% happiness. She is never worried about the future (or the past), just whatever is happening in this moment right now.
Perhaps the most important lesson of all though: is to just have fun. Blair literally has two modes 1) having fun 2) sleeping. At times our ideas of fun greatly differ (I do not want to chase turkeys or chew on weird animal parts, she has no interest in reality television). We do both enjoy: long walks, good food, and relaxing on the balcony. That being said, no matter what Blair is doing, watching her have fun always puts a smile on my face and reminds me that part of the thrill of being human is that we are wired to enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, we sometimes forget this when we feel bogged down by life’s responsibilities.
So on this Friday and into the weekend, make a conscious effort to have some fun. Be tireless in your pursuit, Blair always is. When she wants to play with you, there is no deterrent on earth that will halt her quest (yet another lesson: the importance of persistence). We will always have responsibilities and things to get done, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun! Yes, I enjoyed that rhyme immensely : – )
